Theistic Evolutionism

• Theistic Evolutionism
  • Is a world-view based on the following concepts
    • God exists.
    • The universe was created about 14 billion years ago (by God).
      • The physical constants and laws of this universe were fine-tuned by God to enable intelligent life to exist.
    • The earth came into being about 4.5 billion years ago.
      • This occurred via a process that was ultimately created by God.
    • Micro-evolution is a Fact.
    • Naturalistic (atheistic) Mega-evolution is not a Fact
      • but rather is an atheist-faith-based Naturalistic (atheistic) Theory.
      • This sentence is not meant to be derogatory in any sense.
    • Theistic Mega-Evolution is true.
      • God created the parameters and laws of matter and of our universe such that
        • by completely uninterrupted processes (i.e., without any further intervention by God),
        • the physical universe evolved into its current physical form,
        • life originated, and
        • all living creatures evolved by evolutionary processes (which include neo-Darwinian processes).
        • Such evolution was the process that God used to create human beings.
  • Note: Theistic Evolutionism is sometimes called Fully-Gifted Creationism.
    • The idea here is that God fully gifted the creation (the physical universe) with all of the properties necessary for life to originate and to evolve into intelligent and spiritual creatures such as human beings.

  • I am not a Theistic Evolutionist (TE).
    • However, I love my TE brothers and sisters and have done my best to provide a fair representation of Theistic Evolutionism in the text above.
    • Please note that while many committed Christians are Theistic Evolutionists, not all committed Christians are Theistic Evolutionists.
  • I have been asked why I am not a Theistic Evolutionist.
    • While hoping to not offend anyone, my response is that
      • I do not find the scientific evidence (for Mega-Evolution) to be compelling.
      • I.e., I am convinced by the evidence for Micro-Evolution, but I am not convinced by the proposed evidence for Mega-Evolution.
